  I transferred here from a bank because I did not like the bank's new fees. Community Choice has fees too, but they are not as high as traditional banks, and some things that banks charge for they do not. I can't specify right now but they have the fee schedule online that you can compare to your bank's schedule. I started with a savings account and when I opened it they ran a credit report on me for free, which is how I found out that my identity was stolen. if it wasn't for them running it I don't know when I would have found out. I know I could have ran a credit report myself, but never having used credit I didn't think I was at risk for anything. I lucked out that Community Choice ran them, and they still let me open the account. Other than that I've only had to use their customer service when I forgot my online password. I've recovered it both over the phone and in person and it's always been very easy,so overall I would say their customer service is good. However, I did have one notable negative customer service experience when I opened a checking account a few years later. When I opened up the checking account I specifically asked about overdraft fees. I was misled (valuable information was omitted from me; deliberately or not I cannot say) causing me to be charged two $30 amounts for two very minimal transactions. on top of that I was not even alerted by them that I had insufficient funds nor that they had charged the fees, ergo no grace period for me to fix the issue.I felt betrayed because I thought credit unions were supposed to be about honesty and community. I recently opened an account at a bank again (I actually got a better deal) and again was misled so I guess no one will give you the full story about overdraft. At least this time I checked the fee schedule myself before there was a problem. I also don't like the "class system"; how different membership levels get you different perks-or fees depending on what tier your in. Again, seems anti community to me. I've also never gotten any credit in my rewards account they gave me. I understand that has to do with the amount of money I have in there, but just overall I feel like they really aren't that great and can find a better financial institute to suit my needs. If you don't mind these kinds of issues I say give a credit union a try for there low fees, but I'm actually closing my accounts and sticking with my new bank ones. *Update I'd like note too that I don't care for the new interior design. The sitting area is nice, but as someone else mentioned, they now have computer "islands" dotted about, and anyone can look at the screens. Also, you used to be able to call your local branch; now there's only one customer service number. The reps are still nice and helpful, but it's disappointing the Credit Union seems to be going more "big business", and I just hope the customer service doesn't end up declining for those that still bank there. Response to Community Choice 4/17/2017. Thank you for attempted to assist me, however I am still happy at my current bank. If you want to help with customer satisfaction though, I suggest continuing to read these reviews as they mention specific issues. I think a main thing would be reinstating the local phone number instead of the hated '1-800 ' (or in this case 877) line and getting rid of those computer islands as they are a privacy concern.   I'm updating my review after I was contacted by a member of management over an issue I had with a loan. I was treated with respect and felt the credit union had gone out of their way to make sure that I (a member of the community) was happy and treated fairly. I take my hat off to this bank and suggest you give them a try.

  Sarah and Jim are amazing. I have historically been a big bank customer, but wanted to try something new. Jim sat me down and helped look at my life and finances as a whole. Using this information he helped me choose the right checking and savings account that will work for me. I feel confident in my finances going forward and I feel comfortable sending all of my friends and family to see Sarah and Jim at Community Choice Credit Union!
